Gonna snow on Monday, local weather says 8-12" in my area, Weather.com says 3-5" which is probably a little more realistic, but it's going from nice and warm (40 degrees) to 5 degrees in a few days :). Time for winter skids and other Subaru shenanigans.

We've got a winter storm watch and all sorts of precip with a couple inches 3-6 of snow expected monday - tuesday.

Does your local weather hype everything up like mine? They say - "Next week, polar vortex -40 degree temperatures and 12+ inches of snow" but the reality is it's 20 degrees and cloudy all week.

Not really, but we're about to be stuck in the twenties and teens for a bit. Source: noaa.gov You're right though, it is that damn polar vortex phenomenon.

I don't use it, and I'm totally ok with taxing it. And sure we might get snow this week (today was 70 degrees), but virtually everything is cheaper here than in California. CO>CA

It was in the 90s here today and I can drive from the beach to the mountains in a little over an hour if I want snow. Higher average incomes make up for the cost of living. CA>CO

You know, the classic car market thrives when the amount of salt on the road is zero year round. No underbody rust on older cars. Imagine that.

We don't use salt in Colorado. Rust is rare here.

Mag chloride. It has a few drawbacks (have to apply to road surface before snow, makes your car filthy and smears on the windshield, and it's a slick liquid), but it doesn't cause rust. Cars that have all but disappeared elsewhere in the country can still be found here somewhat intact.
